Here an easy one for you all.

Why do you keep coming on POTN?

I ask, because another member said POTN is a "gear" forum, which I thought was a pity, as photography is surely about more than just what we use to do it.

Isn't it?

Please let me know what you're doing on here.

Cheers :D

Well, I acquired quite an interesting percentage of my photographic knowledge while browsing this forum!

Sharing and learning... that's what it is all about. To me at least!

I was burdened by an absurd amount of money in my pockets and this forum has helped me to eliminate it quickly.

I keep returning to POTN for the information, ideas and experience that I either never would have thought of, or enjoyed had it not been for this website.

I keep returning to POTN for the encouragement and peer pressure. I see other's work and get great ideas and practice reproducing (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery), as I continue evolving with my own style.

I keep returning to POTN to see what others are seeing in parts of the world that I have not visited in a long time, may never visit, and hope to visit some day.

I think it is absolutely amazing that I sit here in a small USA town communicating and exchanging ideas with people from all points around the globe: Australia, Great Britain, Russia, and the Orient to name but a few regions. Twenty-five years ago I would not have dreamt this possible.

Just look at the possibilities we have now!

I've been asking myself that question...

As a digital "Johnny come lately," I first delved into POTN as a way to learn more about digital photography and the EOS / EF line of gear. At that time I had a shiny new 20D and the original "kit lens." Over time, I'm sure I'd have spent the same amount of money on equipment that I've spent to date but POTN has helped me make sure I've spent my money wisely and on the right gear at the right time.

I keep coming back to POTN in order to continue the learning process and to correspond with a wide variety of photographers who are into an even wider range of subjects and styles.

Combined with the flesh and blood photo group that I joined in November of 2007, POTN has helped push the edges of my envelope farther, faster than I could have ever imagined.

POTN has also afforded me the opportunity to meet and shoot with a great bunch of folks who live in Arizona.

Oh, and I've always been a sucker for answering pointed questions from relative strangers! :p

I learnt ALOT, and I'm still learning, also for me it's good to share interests with others, as I don't really know many people in to photography.

And inspiration.

Learn about stuff, mostly. DPReview can give me the facts, but here on POTN I get the reaction, i.e. the bashing of the EF-S 18-200mm made me reconsider it after I initially thought "Awesome!" Plus it was here that I learned the D200 was the Nikon equivalent of the 20D, instead of the D80, as my dad and I thought when we were doing research.

You obviously didn't see the AP v Fairey thread!!!
But generally, yes, I'd have to say I've met more, friendly people on POTN than I would have expected, especially as I've never before been a member of any forums.
