i think im geting an abnormal amount of "hot" red pixels on my canon 20d

http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1685/hotpixelsprob.jpg (external link)

if you look at that you'll see al the red dots on the image

this is only on a 15 second expose much worse if i go any longer

is there any way of combatting this because its taking to long to fix !

EDIT ive just looked zoomed in more on the photo

there are actually purple and white spots too =/

thanks

rogan

I don't see much. Noise Ninja will remove 99% of it.

turn on noise reduction for long exposures. Or just clone them out...

There is nothing you can do... and it will continue to get worse as your camera gets older. That's one area where a film body still wins out. With my 10D, I get the red dots on any dark areas (black pants, etc) on shots taken at 1/2000 shutter speed.

I've got much more hot pixels on my 5D than your 20D. I don't know if that's completely normal but I just clone them out and the problem is fixed.

The one time that I LOOKED for hot pixels (long exposure, lens cap on), LightRoom2 cloned them out about an half-second after opening the file. So, yeah, no worries.

I dunno - never did anything specific; it just got rid of them...
