It may be called a "dead line" units ready for decommission.

I think it's surplus power. There were a lot of newer engines there and only a few old units. I only saw two SP engines in the whole string. I suspect this is a byproduct of the economic slowdown.

Great catch, and very cool pic. Maybe they are stocking up so that they can pull Lake Michigan over to California. I mean you guys still have that drought over by 'dare. It would be awesome to see all those bad boys fire up at the same time.

Wow, nice find. So let me think 400,000 HP % 161 = 2500 HP per engine? Wow.

Actually, they range from at least 3,000 to over 4,000, depending on model. I figured if they average 3,500 hp, there's roughly 416,000 horsepower. Could be more.

Fantastic find, chief. Well done to the missus for counting them up as you used all your concentration to drive past. Who took the shot, you or your wife?

Did your wife happen to spot the little Indian guy at the far end pulling them all along with ropes hooked into his ear-lobes? :D

wasn't it a chinese man who pulled things with his eyelids, but was not allowed in the Guinness World Records, because it was a bit silly to hook things up to your eyelids?
