They aren't bad shots but I'd lose the text and the frame, lots of wasted space and ink there.

Other than leaving the text out what would make these pictures pop or look better? I'm a newbie so I appreciate any and all constructive criticism.

Linda I like them- I'd be more careful of the background...ie. in the first one on the left there is light coloured background (and there looks to be a shadow from her arm) and on the right it's dark. The dark would of worked best.
In the second one- I would of have him kiss her lower down so that his head did not blend into her top iykwim?

Keep going :)

Thank you for that. I will keep all of those points in mind next time I do a maternity shoot. You have all these ideas of how you want it to go and then the day comes and doesn't always turn out howyou would like.

I like them! Her skin tone tooks great in B&W. But I agree, Im not a fan of the text in the first. In general I do not like text on pictures, I feel its distracting. Maybe you could move the text directly on the pic, if thats what they like.

Im doing my first "real" maternity shoot on Friday, first real shoot actually. I have shot my kids, and some family members before. Im kinda nervous! We are starting in the early morning at the beach and then moving to her house. Any tips are apprieciated.

Thanks for that advice re text. This shoot was my first "official" shoot and it just turned out to be a maternity one. I was very nervous but I had great fun. The couple was great.

I am a newbie so take this advice with a grain of salt. The only thing that I would suggest is to be ready. Know your poses and make the mommy-to-be feel comfortable. Have your equipment ready the night before, i.e batteries charged, lenses ready to go. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride. Thank goodness there is only one FIRST TIME! After that, it gets a little easier every time. Can hardly wait to see your beautiful pictures!:D
