Not exactly sure where to post this, but I just wanted to compliment Canon service. I had an issue with some smear on the mirror of my 5D2( my fault in changing a focus screen), and also some fine dust from shooting in a dusty environment.

I sent the body to Canon on NJ by UPS. It arrived in 24 hours as I'm close to the service center. What was surprising was that I got an email on the same day it arrived, indicating that the initial inspection showed the cleaning and/or repair would be warranty-covered, and that I would have the camera back in 7 working days.

I was just surprised at the quick followup. Nice to know my baby is in good hands.

P.S. It came back today, Friday, repair complete door to door in 4 days! They sent me update emails and sent it Fedex overnight. Can't believe the speed.

I just sent 3 items to the Canon Service center here in Irvine. Two of the items were sent back in 2 days. My 5D had an electrical problem and required a week in the hospital. Now it is home and shooting better than ever. :)

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

whats the cost for cleaning and recalibrating anyway? My still under warranty, about to expire. Is it a good idea to send it over and have the clean it or touch it up?
