Will they work together?

Looks like the MK1 will work, the MKII won't, sorry.

Thanks, Sean. I got a smokin deal on the Siggie, which is coming today, but have only used Canon OEM lenses to this point and wasn't sure if they'd mate up.

Steve did you see my edit? As long as you have a MKI of the TC it should work, but it looks like it can't

Bummer, and I have the Mk2. Guess that means I need to buy a Siggie TC, so that makes the lens deal a bit less smokin. Guess I should have just read the FAQ stickied up top.

Ya that does suck. Well isn't the siggy TC inexpensive?

Well, I could buy the Siggie TC for $200 new, but that would put the combo at the same price as a Canon 200 f2.8L, and there are times I need the 280mm. Plus, the IQ on the 200/1.4 is better than what can be had from the Siggie 70-200/Siggie TC combo.

Probably I'll just give the lens a workout for a couple days and then put an ad in the "sell" board here. I bought it here on POTN, and there were three other people waiting to snap it up at that price who I just barely beat out, so I don't think it'll be any prob selling it here.

Then I'll pick up the 200.

Wish I was rich (or at least had a good-paying regular job to finance all the gear), but I'm making a living from photography, and in this sour economic climate and its impact on my business, all purchases must be weighed carefully.
