Entry Portrait Lighting

I have become very interested in learning more about portrait photography including the basics of studio lighting. Can anyone point me toward a good source(s) of information on lighting, entry level equipment and basic poses. I have been viewing the submissions in this section and the glamor/nude section for ideas but would like to do some further reading. Ideas on entry level lighting would also be appreciated.
