A Rose Shot (first time try)

I've been checking out this section alot. And I think some of the pics I've seen here are amazing, so I thought I'd give it a shot. What do you think? Be honest, and harsh....I can take it.

it looks a little dark and i would like to see the bottom left cropped out, but the rose is very interesting

First, I love this idea. I think I'm going to copy it, that is, go find some dried flowers.

I think there are two interesting things about this image to me. I like the inward spiral of the rose and the texture of the petals. I think increasing the DOF so that you can see more sharpness in the spiral would be fun to try out, but don't increase it so much that the background (green stuff) is in focus. Just my 2 cents...
