Just finishing supper. Not sure what she has in her mouth--maybe a red pepper.

She'll be 4 years old in May, so she's just a youngster.

Lots of views and not a single comment. Tough crowd here on this board.

Thanks, Barbara. Sunny is the apple of my wife's eye. She's a little crazy, but we cut her some slack since she's the baby in the flock.

Thanks. Well, the short answer to your question is that she is a great pet--but parrots are definitely not for everyone given the high maintenance, need for stimulation and attention plus they are messy and noisy. They are quite smart often being compared to 5 year olds, and some species can easily live longer than humans, so it's a long term commitment to minimize the trauma off being bounced around from house to house. Parrots and children can work as long as there are some precautions and ground rules. Also, parrots are not exactly domesticated in the same way dogs are, and there is an avian culture one must respect when living with these birds.

Thanks, Randy. Scarlets are real beauties with great personalities. Here's a link to some photos at a local non-profit foundation that specializes in macaws:

I hope to return there soon and try out some new lenses. The above shot of Sunny was taken without a flash. Flashes do work, but I think they work best off camera.
