Hi,

For those of you who sent in the 28-75 2.8 XR Di LD for the focusing issues and re-calibration, how long did it take for you to get it back from Tamron? I sent mine in 6 weeks ago, got a repair eta of 3 weeks. Its now 5 weeks that they have had the lens, and no update. I sent in the repair status order form twice, with no response (Im going to call them tomorrow). I was just curious as I knew alot of folks here stated they sent this lens in for same issue.....

Regards,
Bill

A while ago, I had a 28-75 / 2.8 that was sharp everywhere except 28mm f/2.8 infinity focus, so I sent it in for calibration. It took three months. When I got it back, all was perfect, but I found I didn't miss it while it was gone, so I sold it. : )

I'm in Canada and sent mine in early November and got it back 2 weeks later (they told me it would take 4-5 weeks)... inconsistent focusing and halation at 75mm/f2.8 which resulted in soft images at 75/f2.8. At => f4 it was great at all focal ranges and apertures. At < 65mm, no halation that I could see.

Both were fixed. I'm very happy with the lens.

.....wow.....three MONTHS? Thats absurd. Did they send you a repair estimate shortly after you sent it in (and if so what did they give you as an ETA)? Also, how long ago did this happen with you? Thanks!

Mine (dead aperture/iris diaphram) took about a month to be repaired and returned to me. Call them and complain or use the online form to get information.

Thanks

I've got a Tamron 17-50 that went in due to focus issues. From the date of shipping it until I recieved it back was 20 days. In this time it was evidently sent by Tamron in NY to a facilities in California, where I assume the actual work on the lens may have taken place. The lens was covered under the 6 year warranty, so my only cost was about $10 for shipping. The lens is dead on focus now.

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

Mine was sent to the Canadian distributor, JM to the US one.

Could be because I exchanged a bunch of emails and emailed shots to the Service Manager. He could have fast tracked my lens although he did say he couldn't guarantee less than 4 weeks. I wanted it before Christmas so was a bit worried.

Try calling during normal work hours. When I called to find out about sending in my 17-50 lens, I got to talk to a real person and they were courteous and helpful. Were the online requests through the Service page, "Track Your Repair" or "Status of Repair" or simply an email?

The online repair status form.....when I sent it in both times, though, I didnt get a "your message has been sent, or received, etc"......no acknowledgement. Ill try to call them during my luch break....its hard for me to call during 9-5pm

Mine was razor sharp from day one, never heard about any focusing issues with this lens, this is one time a third party company got it right.
