Gitzo Systematic Tripods, check your nuts!

This thread is not mean to knock Gitzo or anything, just pass on some info.

My BIL was thinking of getting an older Gitzo 1348 so I did some research and ran into this thread on NS.
Sorry if it's a repost but if you have these tripods, check the nuts and plate and put some locktite on it. Even the best will fail at the least expected moment.

Its always a good idea to check your nuts before venturing out into the wild...coughing is optional. Seriously, its common sense to check your gear on occasion, and that includes tripods. I always stash a multitool as well as a few hex wrenches into my backpack for every outing...there's always a bolt or nut coming loose at some point in time. An ounce of prevention...

Athletic supporters could be used to contain loose nuts.

I checked. My nuts seem to be fine.

That is what my urologist does each year. His tools are a finger and a syringe. I think I'll suggest he needs to an allen wrench and screwdriver next time so that he can increase his practice.

No, no glue on the nuts either. Just a speed washer.
