Hello,
I strobed basketball this past week with 3 Alienbee B400s on full power bounced off white ceiling. f/2.8, ISO 400.

Shot with Canon 40D bodies, a 70-200mm f/2.8L and a 16-35mm f/2.8L.

Ditto - photos are great. Where did you have the strobes positioned?

Neat stuff. I like the emotions on the bench.

I like the 2nd one. The first has a unique look to it.

Why bounce them, as opposed to feathering them across the court?

The first one looks like he did just that :)

Colors look great and solid images. Any more action shots?

Thanks everyone. It's a mixture of bouncing and feathered direct light because I place the strobes approximately 5 feet below the ceiling so there isn't much room to actually bounce. Therefore, the light is at an angle to get enough throw, which results in part of the light bouncing off the ceiling and part of the feathered light hitting the atheletes. The ceiling isn't very high.

Strobes were placed at the top of the key. Since I only had three strobes, the other strobe was placed on whichever side I was sitting at; I rotate sides at half-time, so I only have to move one strobe.

edit: also, to answer a question, bounced light is a lot softer than feathered direct light. I use a combo of the two since bouncing isn't practical with such ceiling heights and weaker strobes.

I'll put up some more action shots soon..

Thanks! Colors & contrast are low in that pic, though. I need to fix that ;)
