Which picture do you guys feel is more "pleasing" to your eyes and why?

vertical and horizontal crop you have cut the top of her head off ?
als vertical crop just a little to tight for me maybe show just past elbow on left and a bit more of the rails on the left
but i just a amature other may say different to me

I personally prefer the placement of the subjects in the vertical crop, with the heads placed diagonally across, expecially since the background is quite a bit cluttered.

Both of your crops have the woman's eyes too close to the top. Your original shows that there is enough room to use the rule of thirds in your crop.

Before the crop, the first thing I noticed was the tilt---the stairs are not level. Before cropping, I rotated the image slightly and then went for a tighter crop to show off the expressions and contentment of these two. The tighter crop still gives a decent size for resolution purposes.

I really like what you've captured here.
