Went to an air show, yesterday, in Fort Worth, TX. This was the first time to try out my 20D and EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS lens on fast moving subjects. The Blue Angels seemed like the perfect subject. I've been taking photos at air shows for years and was rather disappointed with the results of yesterday, compared to previous years of photos at air shows.

Okay, the only filter I used on this bright cloudless day was a Hoya Super HMC PRO 1 Skylight (B). Pictures of the sky seemed somewhat washed out and the planes were too dark. I shot mostly in the SPORTS mode and with the lens turned off of AF, because I just could not get the AF to keep focus on such fast moving jets (the lens kept wanting to go to a minimum focus and not stay focused on distance - same thing happened when I had the camera set for LANDSCAPES).

I'm going to another air show at the end of this month in Fort Lauderdale and was using the Fort Worth show to prepare for the Fort Lauderdale show. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I need to use another filter or setting, I'd greatly appreciate any advice.
