Today I went to the photo shoot at the Houston (MN) Owl Festival (external link). Aside from the fact that it was pouring down freezing rain, it went pretty well. I met some of the other photographers and had a good lunch. The owls were courtesy of the Raptor Education Group (external link). Note that these are all captive owls. REGI does a great job of helping out the photographers with nice perches and settings. And the volunteers from the Houston Nature Center kept everything very organized. Thanks to everyone who put this event together!

This is Lil' Bit, a northern saw whet owl. He is very photogenic and comfy here in his hole, while everyone else is out in the freezing rain. He's cute and he knows it!

Do I belong on a Christmas card or what!

Two eastern screech owls tried to compete with the cuteness factor. Ok, they are cute, too.

Lil' Bit raises the cuteness factor... beat this, screech owls!

Just out of curiosity....does it go into the tree on it's own or do they put it in there? Either way...that is definately card material...I'm not sure if I should smile or laugh.

When I first saw this post, I thought it was a PS shot of an owl's face on a tree! What a cute creature. Great images.

These are beautiful Liz. I'd never guess they were captive.
