The first image is very noisy and lacks contrast. The expression in the second one is priceless.

Nice shots, great to see the Northern Kite projects are doing well. The first shot is a little noisy and I guess quite a large crop as it must have been quite far away. I see the shutter speed is 1/2700 at iso 400. I think you could have gone to iso200 and used 1/1350 for a less noisier result. Keep an eye on the shutter speeds, 1/1250 is more than enough for Kites in flight at 400mm, so you could easily stop down the aperture a stop or two or lower the ISO. I look forward to seeing more of the Kites in your area.
