The first shot is a little noisy and I guess quite a large crop as it must have been quite far away. I see the shutter speed is 1/2700 at iso 400. I think you could have gone to iso200 and used 1/1350 for a less noisier result. Keep an eye on the shutter speeds, 1/1250 is more than enough for Kites in flight at 400mm, so you could easily stop down the aperture a stop or two or lower the ISO.
