I am thinking of stopping by Canon in Mississauga since it is not far from me and I want to take in my 30D and my recently purchased 100 mm Macro. The Macro is about 4 years old and I am experiencing focus issues but I am not sure if it is the lens or camera.
I get different results with the 5D 2 and 30D.

Anyone here take in their gear to Canon in Mississauga in person? Do I need the boxes or can I just give them the gear without the boxes. Do I tell them if I have warranty for it?
I still have warranty for the 30D but not the macro lens.

For warranty work, they'll want a copy of the receipt.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

No boxes, no grips, no memory cards, no batteries..
Give them only the body and the lens.

Not even the battery?
How much does lens calibration cost? My macro doesn`t have a warranty but the 30D does.
I heard that some people had a similar problem and the had warranty for camera but not for the lens and Canon did not charge them.

Not even a battery – at least that’s what they told me 2 years ago when I left my XT and 24-70 for inspection, cleaning and adjustment.
Turned out that there was no need for any adjustment and they did pretty lousy job with sensor cleaning.

I’d also like to know how much lens adjustment is!
I have 85mm f/1.8 which shows a bit of front focusing and both the camera and the lens are out of warranty.

Yeah that was in Missisauga, I sent it via ExpressPost so it got there on the 28th and I shipped it on the 27th. I called them on Friday and they said a technician was still working on it.

Good Luck
I sent my camera to Mississauga with the understanding that I would get an assessment within 7 working days. One month and many calls later I got the assessment - $ 670.00 to fix... yet they would sell me a refurbished one for $370.00 if they got my camera to refurbish. Go figure!!

Just picked up my camera from Mississauga (also dropped it off in person). As Hermeto said just take the body and lens. If you bring anything else they will strip it off and send you home with it :)

two experiences with mississaga canon..

1) lens calibration: done for free within warranty. i went thru henry's and they got it back to me in 3 weeks. kind of slow for a recalibration job....

2) i just sent my 1dm3 for servicing. i shipped it overnight. they received it but it took 3 business days to actually put the camera in their system to actually start the work... maybe theyre backlogged?? anwyay, i just got an email saying it will take 10-15 days to do the AF recall repairs.... here's hoping.

How about camera calibration? Is that also free with the warranty? I have all Henry`s extended warranties. I was thinking since I am already there I will give them the 100-400 as well since I have a warranty for that as well.

Hi,

Im planning on dropping my lenses and 40D for calibration to Mississaga
Do I need to package the items, or should i just bring them barebones ie. no wrapping, or bubble wrap etc.?

Thanks
