Probably. Mine has a lot of front focus, but from the shots I took it is clear it is a very sharp lens (the parts that arein focus, which sadly aren't where I was focusing, look awesome) with wonderful contrast and color saturation. I don't have the 24L, but my picture quality looks very comparable. I guess the question to ask is, is it worth a thousand dollars to you to send your lens and body in for calibration? Where I live (in Taiwan) the camera shops take care of it for you, so it is very easy and only takes 3 to 5 days to get back.
Admittedly, the AF is slow and noisy, but for what I shoot that won't bother me much.
I wonder if the 28 has the same issues. I would prefer a 24 though. Both lenses are tough to find used.
