I bought several lenses soon after this one and so haven't taken it out in a while. Used it today with my 135 and 24-105 and found my shots with this lens were my favorites. I have unbelievable color saturation with mine...

This may not seem like impressive macro, but...it is! This bug is only about as big as a fingernail (as are each of the flowers). I had the lens right up to it.

one of the things i like most about this lens is the impossibly short MFD. it makes for very usable and competent macros!

Especially on a crop body.

Anyways..
A revision to a shot I posted here a few months ago:

Also, something new(-ish)

A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.
Never limit yourself with what others think you should do. Shoot what you find interesting, exactly the way you want to.

Would anyone recommend this lens on a 1.3 crop body, or is the Sigma 20mm my best bet?

No one can answer that for you, depends on how wide you like to go:)
However, lots of threads debate which is better, the 24 or the 35 for semi-wide work. Seems like on a 1.3 crop the 24 would split the difference and might be just perfect. If you already have a 35, I would go for the wider lens, though.
Just my 2 cents.

The 20mm is so tempting, especially since it has less distortion than the 24mm, but I really really want the macro abilities of the 24mm :/

I doubt you'd be unsatisfied with either one tbh.
Though optically the 24mm should be a bit better as I recall.

this is true, but ive found the bokeh to be more pleasing on the 24mm from viewing many sample pictures of both

If you like narrow DOF, this seems to be able to do it pretty well.

I like the "explosive" bokeh of this lens. Sold my 20mm a while back but thinking I might need to pick one of these up to play with soon.
