anyone else have this on a crop? im wondering if its wide enough to walk around with.. im torn between this and the 20, even though macro is a definite +++ on this one!

I tried this, the Canon 24L II and the Siggie 20 1.8 on my 40D a few weeks ago. Although I ended up buying the Canon 24L my definite second choice would have been the Sigma 20 1.8.

Both Siggies did a fine job but the 20 was just more of a pleasure to use and I liked the extra room on the wide end. It was a tough decision to go with the 24L - I would have been very very happy in most shooting scenarios with the 20 I think (and a bit less poor, too!)

How does this compare to the sigmalux? bokeh? pop? OOF lights? Distortion?

I will use this on a crop and was thinking since this already on the Wide end of the FF would it produced unwanted distortions for portraits?

Definitely a good walk-around focal length. I had similar questions, so I took my 18-50 that I had at the time, set it to 24 for the day, and saw how it did. I suggest you do that.

thanks for the advice.. just did this today! seems like exactly what i have been looking for. how long has this been out? i cant seem to find any on the used market..

Not sure how long its been out. When I picked mine up on here, I didn't realize it was that "rare". When I had to sell it for some quick cash a few months back, I lost money. Seems I overpaid and undersold. Since then I always do my research. Seems its gained popularity since I sold...starting to see a lot of stuff on this thread as of late.

I've been using this lens all Christmas holiday. This is one of my favorites. At 3.2. The only photoshop is cropping a little bit & curves.
