Hi All,

This past weekend I decided a take stroll in this undeveloped park behind my home, and decided to make a "study" of it by taking shots of this and that. In particular there is this oak tree that I was meaning to shoot years ago, but only now got a chance to do it. And to my pleasure, the poppies are blooming in all their riotous colors. Your CC's are most welcome.

1. Trying to get everything in focus

2. The Cat and his Tree

3. Poppies are a riot

4. Thistle - normally they are weed eater "food", but they're lovely now. Just a random thistle growing out of the cracks of a sidewalk.

Very nice series! I like the colours in the poppies and thistles too.

Keep at it, and if you really can walk to places as beautiful as this, do please add to my "Walk a mile...." thread.

#2 is my pick. IMPACT!
#1 could work for me by moving the tree LorR and have some leading lines into the photo.
Thanks for sharing.
BTW, this is a great thread. It really gets you seeing what's in your own backyard.

The cat with his tree is better for composition, but I like the darkness of the first shot.

While I was taking this shot, I tried to get the cat's attention, but he could careless about me (or maybe his name isn't "kitty kitty" :))

Thanks for the comments. I'll take these to heart. Skygod44, I'll post something to your thread.

These are all just in San Jose, CA, close to the eastern foothills. We had some rain in past couple of weeks which turned the normally bland hills, green, and the conditions were right the bring out the poppies and various flowers. I enjoying while I can before everything dries out.
