Anyone tried using the 300 f2.8 L with a 2x and 1.4 x TC? Just wondering if it can work.....any examples would be cool too ;)

Yup. Works alright. IQ at close distances is still sublime... I have a great 100% crop at home (at work now, no access) showing just how sharp it is up close with both TCs.

I tried shooting go-karts with it one time and the 1D III would even track with that combination so long as you prefocused. Keeper rate was rather a bit less, mind, and don't expect to AF lock on in a hurry in anything other than very bright light. It's not what I'd call a practical combination but it can be fun.

Are you talking about stacked?

I know on my 200L f2 IS + 1DMKIII if I stack the 2 together, I can't AF even though it's at f5.6. Actually I can eventually AF but it hunts like mad.

So I'd be curious as well...

I glad someone else confirmed this. My 200f2 will hunt also with a 2.0 and 1.4 TC stacked on a 40D and 5D. This is the lens though, my Sigma with a 6.3 f/stop would autofocus with a 2x non reporting (i think I could even stack it) TC at 500mm.

Hmm... if I remember when I get home I'll also post the samples of when a friend and I got bored and put a 2x/1.4x/12mm extension tube/2x/1.4x combination on the 300 2.8 IS and whacked it on a tripod... boy did we get a closeup of part of a door handle from halfway down the corridor. Was next to impossible to see anything through to MF with, mind you.
