Question about #1, is that through the fence ? If not where do you shoot the straight on pitcher shots from ?

Badmash....gonna make me tell my secrets......

LIke most sports shooters.....I shoot during warm ups to....so while she was warming up I walked down and stood behind the catcher....off to the side of course.

If you look closely you can see the players warming up in the background...which I usually don't keep...but I like the framing of her face here...

I'm not a big fan of swing and miss shots, especially if it is the team I am covering. Generally capturing failure does not generate much sales. #4 and #8 are good action shots but the cropping off of body parts kills it for me.

+1 on the swing and miss shots.

I can't figure #4 for some reason, the ball is still in the air, but she's tagging the runner...

#8 has to be in the vertical orientation.

Harley, I'll share this in the hope you take it constructively, but #2 and #3 never even make it to the pc for an edit. You just generally don't want to show the athlete in a bad light and unless you are shooting the pitcher (who should then be in the shot as well), all you are doing is showing poor play. The exposure is good if that helps make it better, lol!

#6 the catcher needs to learn to keep the ball in her glove.. ;) The nunner's not out if the hand with the ball don't touch the runner. Happens so much on the high school baseball side too.

All the baseball/softball pictures make me really wish the snow would go away .. especially with nearly 6 inches of new snow today.

I think you got great shots. I like the color, contrasts and the crops. Doesn't look like their blurry either. Nice job

probably so, but the intensity, muscle tone, and rolling of the wrists still make it all cool shot. you are right though.

Yeah...I am learning that the swing and miss shots don't work. I did post them for the facts that Huskers mentioned. I love the expression and exertion shown in the shots.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Jon

Not much you can do with #3 but if you crop it so the ball is out of the frame in #2 at least it would look more like the follow through of a good hit.
