Is there such a thing as a hard drive that you can connect your camera to and transfer pics, without the use of a PC?

If you have a 40D, 50D, 5D II or 1D3 with the wireless transmitter you can connect a USB drive (hard or flash) to that and save directly to the drive. There are "bridge" devices that let you connect two USB storage devices and transfer files between them. And there are devices like the Epson P5000 which are hard disks with built-in card readers. With those you can remove your card from the camera and copy it up to the Epson's HDD. HyperDrive also makes one, as do a few other companies. Jon

Yes, it uses camera battery power. The "bridge" devices are very pricey for what you get; what I've tried also required constant attention to transfer large cards. They wouldn't just move 4 GB from device A to device B. And things like the Epson are now being competed with price-wise by netbooks. If you can get a 9" laptop for $300 and check your e-mail and surf the web to boot, why spend $350 for a glorified hard disk with a 5" screen? An Acer Aspire One or Asus Eee 700 or 900 will fit into the outside pocket of one of my Domke bags. Jon

I recently bought a Canon M80 (it was half-price) some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
