Hi all, anyone is using the anti-fog eye piece to replace the OEM one? Does it work?

This is for the 1D MK II.

Thanks

Have used one in cold climates helps an awful lot to prevent the eye piece being effected by condensation.

I would imagine if the eyepiece fogged up, the lens would also.

I had one when I lived in Alaska. It worked great until I hit my leg a few times walking with the camera and then noticed that it was gone. Pictures are just as good without the anti-fog eye piece. My opinion is that it is not required and it's just more money to spend. Now that I think of it I have never had a problem with the eye piece fogging except for when I would breath on it.

That was exactly what happened when I was shooting in the rain and accidently breath on the viewfinder...fogged it all up.

I think I'll save the money then since it's not that often that I shoot in the rain nor the cold.

i recently had a problem with my eyepice clouding up in cold, rainy weather but it was temporary and did not affect my lens.

Breathing on it was mentioned. I missed that one... makes sense. I've shot in wet snow, etc... and the fogging, if any, is very temporary which is why I was wondering if there was a situation that I was missing.

Still, I think it's just another next to useless gizmo, who's main reason for existance is to lighten our wallets :-)

You can buy lens cleaning fluid with antifog properties, if you need it. I wear glasses and use the stuff, now and then, in the winter. Works pretty well.

I lost my original eyepiece and replaced it with the anti fog version. I liked it. High quality piece.
