In our house we have what's called "the mean face". It is used to psych out the competition in sports. Your last picture is a fine example of the mean face. I also like the concentration in #1's face.

I like them all, but especially the last one. You caught the intensity of the game in a fraction of a second.

uhhhh, what were they playing............ jaw dropping
Nice shots - did you shoot multiple frames to get the captures you wanted or get lucky catching the moment? I still need to fire off a burst of about 5 frames on the 10D and still don't always get the action shot I want !

There might have been things I missed

Nice shots. I like the first one because of the look of concentration and determination on her face. Looks like a competitor.

Great shots. Wondered where you have been after the couple of baseball shots you posted awhile back. Have a question for you, if you get a chance to answer. Does your 50 1.8 give you the same crispness that the 85 did for your hoops pics? I got the 85 for the tail end of my kids basketball season (based on your outstanding shots) and managed to grind out a few good ones. But since it's HS and JHS ball, in most of the gyms that lens seems kind of tight, which makes it hard to get the ball and the player(s) in the frame sometimes. Thought for next season I would try the 50MM, but since lenses seem to vary so much I wanted to ask someone like you that has both if there are any big differences other than the length? Would the 50 be a good option in your opinion.

the 85 is a retardeldy awesome lens. It spoils me...the 50 1.8 is a good lens, but the AF speed is so slow. It really isnt a great lens for sports at all. Plus I have broken 3 50mm's now...I really wish canon would release a new 50mm model with better build and AF. After I coughed up for the 1.4 and the AF gave out on me I am a little upset. I have that sigma 30mm 1.4 dead in my sites for when it releases though.

Overall...the 85mm is my favorite lens...hands down
