I took these the other night. First one is 482 seconds, second one the sun was starting to rise so it's only 30 seconds.

Any preference of one over the other?

If only there was a wall large enough in our house that would go with the colour! The "little woman" wouldn't allow anything to clash with her decor. :)

Long exposures of the ocean tend to do that because of the undulations of the waves. I was actually hoping it'd be windier so that effect would be more dramatic.

Original intention was to process B&W but once I saw the images colour seemed the way to go.

Thanks for your comments, guys.

They are both truly excellent. The lighting, the composition, all very good.

Very nice.

How did you determine needing 482 seconds?

I used the in camera light meter and dialed it to expose correctly and ended up with say 30 seconds at f/2.0 ISO 800. I then decided what aperture and ISO I wanted and doubled the time for each full stop of aperture or ISO I stepped down. It's a lot easier if you have your camera set up to half stops rather than thirds. :)

Well, I like the light on the pilings in he first one, but I like the composition of the second one better. Overall, I'd have to pick the second one--looks like it belongs on a Pink Floyd album!

Not by me! There was a floodlight about 300' behind me that probably added a bit.
