Yeah, how much does that suck. The case was delivered today so I grabbed the strobes and the case and brought them to the office.

I still don;t get it... What is the whole fuss about the new Speed Transmitter.. Says 250th using the Speed Setting... according to manual the old transmitter was good up to 1/1000th.. Am I missing something? On the other hand I can shoot at 1/250th connecting a sync cable from my D700 to a 300RX strobe but the max I can get using the Skyport is 1/200th so maybe the new Speed transmitter gives me the extra 1/50th ???

I get 1/250s with the slightest amount of falloff. If I use the Pocket Wizard Plus II I get a totally clean 1/250s and usable 1/320s with my Elinchrom's.

If the new transmitter can give me a totally clean 1/250s and usable 1/320s that would be good but otherwise I can't see any advantage over the old transmitter other than the locking foot and slightly better build and switches. Well.... actually that's enough to make me go buy one.. he he.

I get a clean 1/320 and about 1/8th black line at 1/400 on a 1d mk2 and the speed trans. Excuse the typing, on my phone.

How did you know about the "foam fight" we had that left pieces of "pick-n-pluck" all over the floor?

Er, I mean, how did that stuff get there? I've just been sitting here working all day...

Yep, it's a huge improvement. The whole things feels about three levels up in build quality.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Only one? LOLOL

i found it rob :

the speed of light = 299 792 458 m / s
speed of sound at sea level = 340.29 m / s

120 meters = 0.352941176 second difference

again this length was an approximate measure.

i was unaware of this and if i'm ever shooting at sea level i know this now

Answering my own question in case anybody else needs the info: the 1550 is about perfect for holding a pair of 500s though there is no room for anything else unless you get the organizer that fits in the lid section. I might have been able to fit them more tightly together and then have a small slot down one side that could hold the power cords but it would have been a tight fit. I'll just leave the cords in the duffle with everything else, it's not like they need protection.

Almost forgot to snap a pic:
