Elinchrom is apparently running a limited time special to get people using their skyport rx's. Their kit that includes two 600RX's plus the skyport rx kit (one transmitter and two receivers) all for $1650. While not cheap, the skyport rx kit is usually $250 and each light is usually $800....so you're getting a pretty serious and featured wireless radio slave setup for a mere $50.

Is anyone able to provide a link to this special? I must be looking in the wrong place :o

Thanks for that Robert.
I was hoping to be able to pick up the 230vac equivalent but doesn't seem to be available.

The special is run by Elinchrom so you should be able to get from your local dealer.

Hermes, thanks for your suggestion. It inspired me to do a better search on the Elinchrom Site instead of having a "boy's look"... hehe

Anyway as usual the prices in Australia are hideous and with little choice but it looks like i can get a reasonable price here in Singapore.

Thanks again to all the good info here from everyone.

The Australian distributor for Elinchrom lights are kayell in victoria.

Those deals may not be available in Australia, however those guys are pretty great and you can usually get a great deal from them if you're getting a decent kit.

Alrighty, as of today I can say that I am an Elinchrom user. My lights, stands and Octa arrived today. That Octa sure was a pain and build and now I understand why a lot of you all never disassemble it. The 400BX worked flawlessly w/ the Skyports.

Well i did get down to the local agent here in Singapore yesterday, and they did have the advertisement for the kits up in the window...... but

"yeah unfortunately we're out of stock just now, but i think this other kit will be good enough for what you want to do...."

Thought i was at my local car-dealership for a minute there.

Anyway for anyone in Singapore looking for this kit, don't hold your breath...:(

I was actually going to take pictures on the folding process; I stuggled with it for 45 minutes before it became apparent how to fold it without a hammer  Now it takes me less than 1 minute.

Yeah, I had a heck of a time putting it together myself. I think I sweated over the assembly for more than 30 minutes.

So I swore never to take it apart. But week later, I grit my teeth to tackle breaking it down and I was surprised at how easy it was. I found the easiest way to break down the Deep Octa (and I'm sure it applies to the other Octas, too) is as follows (see photo):

1. Lay the box on the floor with the rib you want to disassemble touching the floor. Rest the palm of one hand on the rib (#1 in photo) close enough to the speed ring so you can reach the locking nut with your thumb and finger (see inset photo).

2. Using the other hand, press down on the part of the ring opposite to where the locking nut is (#2 in photo). You only need to press down just enough to release the tension on the locking nut. Be sure to keep the rib pressed against the floor with the other hand.

3. Now that the tension has been relieved off the locking nut (#3 in photo), you can easily pull it away from the ring to release the rib.

It should take you less than 30 seconds to get the box broken down. :)
