hey mic i know ed has the setti but if he orders the new Elinchrom 70cm deep octa make sure he gets a bag ;)

Look, I've tried, but Ed just isn't a believer in the bag. Which is somewhat paradoxical, because the Setti is in a drum case...

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I don't even use the drum case LOL.

Someone send me a 70cm deep octa and I'll compare it to the setti but somehow I don't think it's going to look the same.

I don't either, I just want to know how different it is.

Could anyone tell me the EL 74' Octabank's length when packed into the bag, and the wait? Trying to figure out shipping a used one to me and the possibility of packing it into my one of my travel cases (been offered one in close to mint condition for 450 EUR).

I'd be buying it anyway :-)

Yeah definitely. I've already said yes yes yes. It's a funny coincidence considering the price I can get a new one for here in India, and now just saw someone selling one for even less, with a bag. Just need to figure out which way I'll take it with me.

Its around 125cm long and a diameter thickeness of approx 24cm in its bag, weight is around 4kg, a little less with original mount.

Lichtwerk,
Please do let us know the quality when you get it. Particularly the reflective material. I'd love to pick up a second one for large group shots...

Has Elinchrom said when the new deep octa will start shipping?

According to the Nordic Agent it will be sent out from Elinchrom to them some time nex week hopefully, so i should have it two weeks. It was supposed to be on the shipment coming on friday or early next week, for some reason its not on there, so the dealer talked to Elinchrom and they told them they would ship it separately....

The Qudra snappy is already shipping from Elinchrom to the dealers. ill get mine at the same time when i pick up the deep Octa 70cm.

Will do, but I'm not buying the large Octabank here, as I got that superb used offer in Germany. I will however pick up a 39" Deep Octa, a 1x1m Recta and a strip tomorrow to send to a friend in Germany.
When I went to the distributor's tiny store in Old Delhi, I checked out the Deep Octa as I've had that one for a while now (albeit bought in Germany for about 3,5x the price...) and it was 100% the same product (bar the bag).
The FXRi 400 I picked up a few days back has been top notch as well, even though it hasn't seen much use yet. I can't tell the difference when comparing it to a BXRi. The 60x60cm Portalite that came with the FXRi is also of proper EL quality.

Mumbles, you might also want to pick up another Ranger when you're coming to India. Did you see the price on that in my earlier post? 2 A-head Speed AS kit for 110.000,- Rs., so about 2.360 USD. Hard to beat. Frankly, hard to believe as well. But considering the other price differences, I guess it could be true. Can't tell for sure until I've picked one up later this year.

AH ok. I thought that same maker was in Delhi. We can actually pick those Ranger kits for close to that price here. So shipping it back may not be worthwhile. I'd like to stop by that distributor though. Can you PM me his address in Delhi? Are they reliably open :) ?

Man i wonder where in India they are making some of this stuff? We need an insider to sell stuff at India prices.
