AH ok. I thought that same maker was in Delhi. We can actually pick those Ranger kits for close to that price here. So shipping it back may not be worthwhile. I'd like to stop by that distributor though. Can you PM me his address in Delhi? Are they reliably open :) ?

Man i wonder where in India they are making some of this stuff? We need an insider to sell stuff at India prices.

You can get a Speed AS kit with 2(!) A heads for that price? Damn, I need to get my employer to post me to the States... ;) It's almost double that price in Germany.

I've already dug around a bit and everything's made by a company called Photoquip in Mumbai. Apparently they manufacture almost the entire product line. Strobes, Skyports, etc, with a few exceptions. They ship all the parts from elsewhere and just assemble it here due to the price of manual labor in Mumbai.

I'll PM you the address, but I can't say anything about them being reliably open. You know how it is here. I just tend to call them up before I go.

The Ranger RX speed AS price isnt that much lower, considering the shipping as well as tax/customs for EU residents its not that attractive.

In fact it would cost a bit more.

Im all for saving money, but the risk of buying stuff from India isnt worth it to me.

Just got my 53" rotalux last night! DANG does it look beautiful on the black 600RX! VERY well made unit and I cant wait to actually get to try it out!

FWIW I was also very impressed by the high quality carrying case Elinchrom includes with this softbox! Well done Eli!

Excellent!!! I have to say that as much as I do love my Deep Octa, my 53" Octa gets the most use and is just a great modifier.

Yes I am def impressed! Now Im thinking the next after I get a second 600RX will probably be the 20x51 softbox. I do want the 39" deep at some point, but when it comes to that I keep bouncing back and forth between which would be better to put the money into, the 39" deep throat or the 69" rotalux... Im somewhat a tiny bit leaning more towards the 39" since a majority of the stuff I will be doing will be outdoors and the 69" rotalux would be a serious beast to deal with out there with a constant set up and tear down to go through. After setting up the 53" for the first time, Im embarrassed to admit how long it took me to figure it out! :/ I kept thinking I was going to tear or break it somehow!

I am currently following 3 different Elinchrom threads, do you guys think we need a new thread for all modifiers with elinchrom mount? Would make it a lot easier to follow :) I would love to see some pictures just lighting a wall with different modifiers to see the difference.

I am saving up for ranger rx or quadra and some modifiers.

Edit:
You can see some different results in this sample thread:

According to the Nordic Agent it will be sent out from Elinchrom to them some time nex week hopefully, so i should have it two weeks. It was supposed to be on the shipment coming on friday or early next week, for some reason its not on there, so the dealer talked to Elinchrom and they told them they would ship it separately....

The Qudra snappy is already shipping from Elinchrom to the dealers. ill get mine at the same time when i pick up the deep Octa 70cm.

Well, that's a good sign, at least. It shouldn't be much longer until distributors in the US start getting them...not that I'm in a big hurry to get one, but it'll mean more opportunities for me to see samples of the lighting and decide if it's something I want. Thanks for the info.

Wow the 69" Rotalux is a nice one, but in the studio. Use it outdoors and unless is a super calm day, you can use it as a sail for a school bus! Of course you can always use a 200 lbs sand bag :)

Oh yea, in the studio itd be a REQUIREMENT! ha ha! But Im focusing more on on location stuff for now...

Hey Rob: I know you are an Avenger stand guy, got any recommendations for a good Avenger light stand to hold the 600RX and 53 inch for on location work? I was thinking of trying to find one that could double as a boom setup too when Im somewhere indoors and need a boom. Right now I have a Manfrotto 3336 (now the 368B LINK (external link)) which isnt a bad stand but its not the greatest either. I cant see it swaying/wobbling with this setup on it if the wind picks up a bit.

A420 (external link) and D600 (external link) will do the job. I own and use both, works flawless.

Ben I know the question was addressed to Rob but since I use the same stuff on location a lot (RX with 53" Deep Octa) I can vouch for what I use. I use the Manfrotto 420B Combi (external link);is sturdy enough (specially when mounting the Vagabond on the main pole) and the boom is pretty useful too...

Hey no problem guys. I don't own the Avenger gear but based on the recommendations and images from others I was able to borrow an A5017 with a D200 and 40" arm. I find that to be a great system for my studio.

When I take the 53" Octa on location I either mount it right to the top of the light stand or if I need a greater angle I just use a superpclamp and a Manfrotto 042. It's simple, lightweight, takes up almost no space and replaces a longer arm or boom.
