Mar 13, 2009 17:37 | #5 I'm not too sure really; well I am and I aren't, the Nature Reserve thread twigs through them (so that's what the nails are for); but just what the twigs are supposed to do I have no idea If they're supposed to keep the bigger birds and animals off the table then they clearly don't work very well ![]() EDIT: Any critique on the shots wouldn't go a miss as I'm not a bird shooter but I'm finding myself drawn in that direction, since I lost my job I can no longer attend the more expensive events to get my fix while a trip to the Nature Reserve costs next to nothing.

Sorry about the loss of your job but I hope you continue to observe and photograph the birds...it is a whole new world. Best of luck to you.

Mar 13, 2009 19:24 | #8 Thanks for the kind comments, I've never looked back since I got the 300mm f4 IS. I like my 100-400 IS and my 70-200 IS but the 300 is yielding better results than either of them; even with the 2X extender on as it was with all of these shots the results are still pleasing.
