Hi All,

I donated a few hours of my time to a charity auction. I'm going to be doing a photography session for the highest bidder, and I've agreed to shoot either a family portrait session, glamour/fashion shoot, or engagement announcement shoot.

I've never done anything like this before (I have shot 99% landscapes), but want to move in that direction, and I also think I can give someone a good product at a very good price. This weekend I will be shooting some portraits of each of those three categories to submit as portfolio work.

The thing I need help with right now is that on the information form I have to submit today, I have to list the value of what I am donating. I'm pretty sure they need this information for tax purposes. I asked for clarification and reminded the guy that I've never done this before, and he said to price it at the price an average professional would charge.

So my question is, what is an average professional and how much might they charge for this sort of thing? I'm thinking that the entire session would be about two hours, and I would spend about two to three hours between prep, processing, and print consulting.

Any ideas? Thanks :)

look on some websites and you should be able to find a range. one here charges 100$ for sitting and add options from there. my grad photos were about 100$, took an hour, he had the props, and the prints included 1 8*10, 2 5*7, and a bunch of wallets.

you situation, maybe a couple hundred or so, but really no idea....hope I helped!
