Did a search for info on the Domke F-8 and all I could find about it here was In2Photos planning on buying one then a long thread about how much In2Photos hated it because it was too small :D Anybody here use one? Descriptions are great, but photos are always better when trying to figure out what bag to get! Any info would be great.

It's a pretty new item. Looks to me like it's intended for use with ungripped body with 3-4 short primes (nothing over about 100 mm). I'll stick with my F-3x since my primary lenses are the 24-70 and 70-200..

I'm looking for smaller than F-6 (I own an F-6, but it's slightly too big for this) for a small DSLR and a few pancake lenses, but not too small. What about an F-5x? An inch or two smaller than the F-6 in all dimensions--might do the trick?

Ungripped body and say the 50 f/1.8 and 85 f/1.8 and/or 35 f/2 - like that? The F5XB would. I put a 5D/24-70 and a 580EX in mine at times. I think the F5XC would hold more, but then you're getting to the F6 size range.

Yeah, a 5D + 35 f/2, 50 f/1.8 and 85 f/1.8 would be just about the size range of equipment I'm looking at. Smaller, actually, but that's as small as it gets on the Canon side!

There's a lot more info on the F-5XB (3 reviews) than the F-8 (none) on cambags.com, and from pics there it looks good. I'm looking for something smaller than the F-6 but primarily thinner (doesn't stick out from your body as much), and from the outer dimensions of 16 x 7.25 x 8.0" (LxWxD) for the F-6 vs. 13 x 5.25 x 8.25" for the F-5XB it looks just about perfect. I also looked at the F-5XC you mentioned, but at 10.75 x 5.5 x 10.75" it's a little bigger like you said, but mostly I don't like the taller form factor as much.

Thanks for the Domke info as always. I've already got 3 of them, and I find myself always coming back to them. Seems like they have the perfect shoulder bag for any equipment combo.
