WOW, what a thread!!...when i came across this thread, i spent a few hours reading every post. as i was reading i was anxiously looking forward to the last post so i could offer a pic or two.
Glad you like the thread Doug...
...then i read Simon's post about his father, and i got a sickening knot in my stomach....i felt compelled to write and offer Simon my deepest condolences....
My Dad was a HUGE Monty Python fan - thus, I am too! - and my Dad was a priest, so this thread was partly because of/for him; the title being a quote from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Trust me Doug, your condolences are warmly accepted, and furthermore, my POTN chums have helped me more than I can say regarding Dad's very sudden death - from "I've a pain in my stomach" to flat-line in 3 days!
Simon, your photographs from your father's funeral are so very powerful and moving...
The picture of Dad in his cofin was my brother's effort. Dad died so suddenly that it was impossible to get from Japan to England quick enough to say goodbye...and when I did get there, the funeral dudes said the cancer was so aggressive, his body had deteriorated too much for me to see him. And besides which, do you think I'd take such an OOF shot!!!!

....i'm fortunate enough to still have my parents with me....
Please, do me, them, and yourself a favour:
Tell them you love them more often than you do now, because it hurts so much that I can't say that to my Dad ever again.
...i hope [POSTing these pictures] can somehow help you and others in the healing process of coping with your/their loss. as well as a means of honoring the life and memories of your father.
Doug
Emboldened....
That's my hope too, Doug.
Hope to see some additions from you soon in.....
"The Dead Thread!"
Regards,
Simon
