I spent a quick hour at Oulton yesterday morning for a bike trackday. I wasn't really concentrating on photography too much, I'd gone with a mate who's looking to do a trackday soon and wanted to see what the standard was like in the novice group. As always, C&C welcome and encouraged on these.

Good shots. The first couple look slightly underexposed to me. Do you shoot in JPEG or RAW? If shooting in Raw, it is a good idea to set your camera jpeg settings to neutral. The histogram you get when you are reviewing images will be based on the picture style being used, so using a neutral setting will ensure that the histogram is as accurate as possible. You can always make slight adjustments later in post.

Did you shoot with the 120-400 on these? Looks like a keeper lens if you did. I've heard mixed reviews about it, so it is good to see that you got a good copy.

Thanks, I did use the Sigma 120-400 for these. I think it's an excellent lens for the money, I've had no problems with mine. My Dad bought one after having a go with mine and his is fine as well.

It's not so much the first shots are underexposed, as me being a bit stupid and shooting into the sun. I shoot RAW, and everything is set to neutral so I can process it as I want when I get home. The first 4 are actually crap IMHO because of where I was shooting, but as I said, I wasn't really concentrating on photography yesterday. The sole reason I kept #1 is because of the reflection in the rider's visor

I agree that it was a cool catch. I'm glad you like the Sigma lens. It's hard to beat the price.

Nice clear shots there Richard..........I love taking pics of bikes....the Sigma lens you have looks good for the money, at the moment I have the Canon 70-300mm-IS but just need that extra bit of reach so may well look into the Sigma as a upgrade.

Canon 60D...70-300mm-IS...100-400L...EFS18-55MM is....plus lots more to come when I have the money.
