I came upon this site selling the camera for ~1500

http://www.cameragiantsinc.com …ct_id=19316&show=features (external link)

Is this a too good to be true offer. Am I missing something here??

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is:

Too good to be true. It's another in a long line of bait and switch operations. Order from a reputable dealer like B&H, Adorama, Sammy's, Calument, etc...

I don't even see how these types of companies exist still after all the horrible reviews. is it because they are impossible to shut down or something?

Anything less than $2600 is not worth risking. That seller is just baiting you. Don't do it. And really, if you want to buy one, get the full Canon warranty and everything in the box right off.

A friend of mine ordered a Nikon D80 from some outfit like that. I told him he would never see a camera from them. He said he was willing to wait if he got a great deal. After a month he cancelled the order. I tried to tell him. The shady characters followed their MO and called him wanting to sell him a $400 memory card and a $500 battery. Okay, maybe those prices are exagerated but you get the idea.

LOL... this reminds me of the first time I was in NYC and naively wandered into one of those seedy camera/electronic stores that lined the Times Square area... they were a bunch of scammers.

I love going into those places. They remind me that I have some sense to not buy anything.

It's because not everyone is smart enough to read reviews before they buy
