Well I pulled the trigger and will soon be the proud owner of a Ranger RX Quadra AS (2) A-head kit :D

The vintage ones were better!

:-)

Yep. Spot on. My fav setup is inner baffle only :)

I haven't played with mine enough yet, but I'm with Ed at this stage. Nice combination of light types.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

So much Deep Octa talk, mine's hopefully mid air between the US and here. Excited for it's arrival and my Quadra extension lead.

Can't wait to experiment.

Also, are manequin heads practical for practice? I don't have the time to organise friends here and there.

Track it obsessively :-)

Very nice Pham. That'll be a great setup for sure! If you plan to use lightstands i'm assuming you already have one. If you'll have an assistant i'd also recommend the Kacey boomstick. It's good to be able to move the light around a bit, especially if you have assistants.

do you have a link for this.. i went to http://www.kaceyenterprises.com (external link).. and didn't find it..

the boom stick is what i am looking for..

Mmmm, I THINK the new Elinchrom one that's coming out (with the baby DO!) is adjustable.

That pole adapter can be put on any pole like a painters pole from Home Depot, which you can get in adjustable versions.

See here: http://pixsylated.com …05/longarm-and-metalhead/ (external link)

I have that pole and it's quite nice.

You can go to Home Depot or Lowes and purchase whatever pole suits your needs.
Joe McNally and Syl Arena use (this one) (external link) with our pole adapter

your pole adapter is also innovative.. way to think out of the box and offer something that is very usable..

Yeah our pole came with the California Sunbounce Sun-swatter. That's a very expensive way to buy a pole :) Granted, it's a fantastic pole with grips and foam where you need it.

Phamster

Lastolite (external link) makes 3 size, i got the longest one. It has two foam handles and is more then enough to hold the quadra with softbox.

Elinchrom offer their "own" its shorter and with one rubber grip instead of foam.

Regards
Paul L.
