The yellow "Mr. Longarm" is light and comfortable to hold.

off topic but is it true the Ranger RX's require a tech to replace the flash tube?

i have been wondering the same thing.. i ordered an extra flash tube because i am rough with my equipment, but do you just pull out the old and slide in the new.. of course use tissue paper not to finger up the bulb with oils from the finger?

and thank you from everybody to help me know and see the light stick options.. this POTN Elinchrom family is great

All this Quadra talk has got me itching. Which beauty dish is everyone using (one that offers a grid) with their Quadras?

Yeah, they say it's not user-replaceable, but I've been looking and found this:

http://www.fredmiranda.com …68129/0&year=2009#7036297 (external link)

No it's pretty easy to replace. All you have to do is take out the screws in the back of the head. When you pull that back the outer cover will start to open up and slide back also. There's two screws holding each leg of the flash tube in. Loosen those and the bulb comes right out. Slide the new one in and tighten. Voila! It's a little difficult getting the outer case to fit back where it should as you put it back together, you kind of have to squeeze it together as you put the back into place.

Note that I haven't done this.

Great resource, good fun.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Just call your "local" Eli distributor they should be able tell where/when you can place your pre-order.

Most dealers in Europe have them available for ordering, i dont know if they are available for pre-ordering in the US yet though.

hi guys got a question, will the standard EL quadra adaptor be strong enough to hold the kacey 22" BD without having any issues?

i saw this guy broke his at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mazzapix/4348344360/ (external link)

and am now quite worried about the built quality of the quadras, though i was hoping to save up for one along with the kacey dish

In short yes it will, since it can manage to hold the 70cm Elinchrom beauty dish.

The failure of the screw not lining up and as a result break the plastic housing in the stand mount has nothing to do with the modifier used on the adapter.

@Pham,

You'll find there are a lot of people in these Elinchrom threads with info and first hand experience.

I know that once you get those Elinchrom modifiers and start shooting you'll see why we all get so excited. :D

Seeing Brendan and Jeff's Maxilite, I ordered the Maxilite from Amazon. Going to beach next week for bikini calendar shoot and may need the extra stop of light. Most likely will be my only beach shoot for a long time since I'm pretty lazy ;)

Did some testing with the Maxilite vs. standard Eli 8" reflector from 8 feet:
Quadra full power 6.O -- Maxilite F/45 vs. Eli Reflector F/32
Quadra half power 3.0-- Maxilite F/16 vs. Eli Reflector F/11

Maxilite and Kacey BD for size comparison:

this Maxilite has the polished surface, so maybe it's a Maxispot
