 everybody got the smiley faces going on.. haha..

mother boomed the quadra system with the 39 Deep Octa..

i had the light on the lowest power i think.. the sky port is very nice to work with.. and also the modeling lights on the quadra was a saver! i didn't have my speed lights on to auto focus and this modeling lamp worked like a charm..

i always forget that this lighting system has the modeling feature ! Duh!..

Yeah, they're all laughing at me. Not WITH...

Nice shot, BTW, although I'd probably clone out that stuff bottom right.

How are you gelling the Quadra?

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I was wondering the same thing, that lamp seems like incandescent so some colour temp balancing must be needed. Or is it Photoshop masking colour balance?

Nowadays I shoot Nikon, but deep inside I am still a Canon lover... plus Nikonians don't have a cool place to hang like POTN :)

No, not really, but subtle gels can be, well, subtle :-)

You said the other day you always gelled your lights, so I was wondering.

You could always use a gold deflector :-)

That lamp (the one high on the wall) must easily produce light with a temperature below 3000K (I bet closer to 2700K) and your Quadra is around 5000K. So yes, it is way bluish than the lamp. However in your pic the temp looks nicely balanced, I would had swore you used a gel. Or may be the light is so far away contamination does not affect the image..

@ Telles..

the light was just out of frame about 8 feet or so..

but you are right.. i probably got some mix from that super warm light like 7000K..

3000k would be like ice cold blue! haha.. but i know what you were saying..

That's awesome...
I just machined a version of the adapter to accept a ball head to boom the camera to get some interesting perspectives. A few wedding photographers have been asking me for the longest time to make them. I don't think mom will be holding the camera poles... LOL

So do you always use it with the front diffuser off? Is that how you get that nice focused light?

Thanks,

Joe
