Watched a fair bit of the third day of the Zack Arais CreativeLive workshop video yesterday - besides being very useful, it was very funny to see Zack getting really annoyed with the ABs because of their shot-to-shot variability :-)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

When I was watching it live I noticed that as well. :D

This looks like a great solution and a hell of alot cheaper then the new RRS QR flash bracket coming out.

yeah, I looked at the RRS and other camera brackets, I liked the Manfrotto b/c it's $64. And it extends to 17 inches and can pivot laterally for directional light.

Anyone know how I can attach this RRS L plate to the Manfrotto?
I shoot in portrait mode and L plate would make it easier to hold my camera.

Wouldn't you be better off attaching the Manfrotto to the RRS?

That is pretty sweet looking! I'm just imagining using it with a full size Ranger and a Maxispot. Now THAT would be some serious on-camera flash! :)

I think the Maxispot would be too cumbersome. I looked at the Alzo flip bracket with their softbox but decided it was too big:

If you like the Alzo Flip, check out Morris bracket which looks identical and it's only $56:

Not sure how to do that. Spoke with RRS and they said I'd need quick release plate and clamp to work with the L bracket. Pic of the Manfrotto:

Nowadays I shoot Nikon, but deep inside I am still a Canon lover... plus Nikonians don't have a cool place to hang like POTN :)

It may support it but personally I would never want to be carrying a rig of that nature. Personal preference I guess.

Anyone here used or seen the Visico Strip Boxes that are on ebay? A strip box is the next thing on my list and these look like quite a cheap alternatives. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience.

Can you grid them?

totally agree, a BD is way too big. A Strobella would be perfect lol!

The Visico boxes are ok. Not great, not terrible. The grids have much to be desired. Materials and build are ok.

I like the one I have, but it's not the one that you can have with a grid. They have two sizes and only one has a grid for it.
