Looks good, but its hard to notice that much light coming out of the B channel on your hair / kicker light.

Hey Ed, I used the Quadra and the Octas in some images! :-)

#1 - Deep Octa camera right (Quadra A channel), gridded 21cm reflector behind to camera left (Quadra B channel) as a hair/separation light.

Evening everyone, been playing with the Quadra today with some ugly mug shots (they're ugly and until I can perfect my lighting they'll remain ugly - myself as the model . . .:o)

http://www.studiophoto.com.au …0bad73163a647d494979d1ff4 (external link)

Is the couple of pieces I'm going to hopefully look at on Tuesday and quiz about changing the mount. Hopefully it's possible as the stuff is very well priced and local.

Edit:

Loving those shots Mic, can't wait till my modifiers arrive and I can take some more controlled shots.

Hey all I have a question regarding power output. Looking at Elinchrom's pdf file

http://elinchrom.s3.amazonaws.com …ery_en_specifications.pdf (external link)

Power output of the Ranger RX speed AS (Elinchrom's pdf) file states
66% A output 11.5 to 733ws
33% B output 5.7 to 366ws
100% 17-1100

The Ranger RX and RX speed simply states 17-1100Ws.

Do you require two heads to reap 1100Ws with the RX Speed AS??? Because the specs on the quadra states

A output 25-400Ws
B output 8.2-133ws

Is there something I am missing? I'm just scheming :)

G'day Joe, not quite sure what that means. But thanks :-)

(And please don't quote photos. Thanks.)

Yeah, that's the problem - lighting. Yeah...

Looks like a very deep mount, but I guess it's hard to tell.

Cheers mate, appreciated. Modifiers are fun :-)

No, the A channel runs from 17-1100Ws.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Thanks Mic, I thought it was 17-1100Ws in A channel. The PDF seems to stte otherwise or maybe its meant to state when 2 strobes are attached. My error of interpretation.

Question for those that have the old Quadra units. What is the max flash sync with the old Skyport transmitters? And if you've upgraded to the new ELS Speed transmitter, does the max flash sync goes to 1/250? The literature on Elinchrom's website suggests that the built in receiver on the updated quadra directly supports the new speed sync when coupled with an ELS transmitter.

OK I think I'm going to pull the trigger and buy the Ranger Quadra Head A to go.

Has anyone used the A Head w/ a photek softlighter ii 46". And if so could you post a pick of how the Quadra looks firing into a softlighter. I may get a softbox or beauty dish but trying to lessen the $$ at this point and use it with the light mods I have...

Thanks
Dan

Thanks. The first couple were really quick shots, as I was demoing how fast it was to setup :-) After that, it was showing what the unit could do.

Ha, he was freezing - he's from Darwin, so he was COLD down here in Melbourne...

#2 kicks arse. Might have wanted to frame #1 a LITTLE wider to give the feet a bit of room. (I know - what am I doing looking at the feet?)

Being able to borrow stuff to try it out is the best thing.

Just got the invoice in my email! :O Finally, they are shipping it now, invoice says delivery date 26th of July, but its already past typical UPS time here, so guess tomorrow I will finally get my Quadra set. :D Sadly they don't have the extension cord in stock, so will have to wait for that.

Thanks,

Joe
