I really wish a $250 lens did it for me anymore. Now I'm lucky if a $1100 one gets me excited.

Well, It's here and it looks like a new lens. Heres a shot of my old buddy Sam at about 170mm. Focused on his eye.

+1. There's nothing wrong with getting excited about inexpensive gear. We've all go to start somewhere.

Great lens. Sharp, awesome IS, and nice range. Probably the best starter telephoto zoom out there, and all for under $250 :D

Here is another shot of Sam taken at about 15 feet. The second image is a 100% crop. Looks like a pretty sharp lens to me.

Like you, I was also looking at the L glass and of course price was the deciding factor

If yours is as good as mine you won't regret the purchase. I am very pleased so far. When the weather improves I will get some good shots at my bluebird boxes, If the birds cooperate! Good luck with your new lens.

I got one last Christmas from my wife. Boy was I happy! I've gotten a lot of shots with it that I'm really happy with. What more can you ask for in a lens?

This is a great lens for a great price. As far as consumer telephoto's go, I don't think
this can be beat. It's very useful focal length and the pictures are quite sharp. No
problems with focus if there is decent lighting. The 4 stop IS is amazing for hand held
shots in low light. Definitely a good buy for anyone wanting some more reach than their
kit lens!
