These are a couple of the first astro shots I've been able to take with my new 50D. It seems like it's a little more sensitive than my old 30D. This was taken using the 10" LX200GPS at ISO400, 30sec f/6.3 (focal reducer) w/long exp NR on.

Just a little unsharp mask on both but otherwise untouched.

This was 63sec:

i like the 30 sec exposure, very nice and sharp.

Yea, #2 is either field rotation or a little bit of movement either from a breeze or vibrations not sure.

Stack a whole bunch of those 30second shots together and you would have a great M42, as Dave says the core is nicely intact.

This is as shot. Just resized for posting and a light unsharp mask.

Yea, I need to take another stab at stacking. My attempt at the end of last summer didn't turn out very good. That's on the list of things to do this summer. I was just happy to get out after a long winter hibernation.
