If you take a look at the bottom of this page, you'll find some similar recent threads. There are a few good options available to you.

Get them all!! No, really. Most offer a free trial. Get tehm and then buy the one you like. I use 'noisware community' it is a free program that does a very nice job.

I have NN pro, but I never use it. Noise doesn't bother me, when the image is exposed properly. I would suggest you save your money for something more worthwhile.

Noise reduction is highly dependent upon the type of photography you are into. If you are shooting in highly-controlled environments such as studio portraiture, it is not as important.

However, if you are shooting in other environments such as landscape or night photography where light and shadows can be deep, or environments where you might be forced to crank up the ISO for a specific reason, etc., etc., it becomes an important tool. I use noise ninja because it seems to be the best blend of good noise reduction coupled with automatic modes that combine to do a good job easily.

Learn how to do layers with masks in photoshop so you can selectively paint the areas you noise-reduce. Hope that helps.

I shoot ISO 1600 very often (Performing Arts). I've never felt the need to buy NR software...
Mostly, the noise won't be bothersome in print.

When shooting with a 40D, I find the noise acceptable at ISO 1600 and below, but at ISO 3200 when I'm really struggling to get a decent exposure, it really does need noise cleanup. For that I use Noise Ninja. But I've heard good things about most of the top-level noise reduction plugins.

I use Imagenomic's Noiseware. The default settings do a great job.

dFine 2.0 allows you to control reduction by region, color area or globally and does it all as a layer that can then be masked as needed. Highly recommend
