Had to fly out to New York to shoot an assignment for work, after I was done with work I walked over to the World Trade Center site and made some pictures.
Cheers,

Very nice...

Seeing this still breaks my heart and makes me mad as hell.

Me too mate. It was quite heart breaking to see what was left. I talked to a security guard at the site who worked in tower 1 up until 2 weeks before the attacks when he was transferred to the Empire State Bldg. He lost 2 co workers in the attack. He even showed me where the planes came in from and what buildings they flew between. I didn't have much time to check the place out as I was only in NYC for the day and had to catch an early flight back to San Diego. I would have liked to spend all day there.

I find the image of the people "speeding" past the ever present fire house especially well done. The fire fighter portrait is fantastic as well.

I appreciate your comments. It's not too often that I find time to get back to my roots and make some pictures for fun. Lately it's been all work and no play.

at my church here in springfield, we have been doing a series of "When life crashes:not if life crashes" and they show a video of major things that have happened lately and things like this and the VT shooting, and a soldiers wife being comforted by an officer, they all break my heart...

As for the images.. they are great.. I like the speeding people past, for some reason i think it would have such an effect on someone if you had someone stand still looking at it and then do it... that would be kinda amazing... lol

Good call mate. But as a working photojournalist, I usually try and blend in and shoot life as it is. Shooting an environmental portrait like that is a sweet idea! Thanks for the inspiration. I'll tag Canonnoob in the source line of my iptc data if I get an assignment where I can use that. Cheers mate.

Number 3, brother from Ten House. What a shot. Maybe not for you folks that are "non fire fighters" but that shot speaks volumes.

Number 5, I think the idea is there. But the guy in the way of the 343 FDNY's that died needs to be the focus. Maybe a small child or Mother/Wife looking at it would have made the picture more moving. Thanks for posting.
