Hello,
I'm new here, and if this post is in an inappropriate spot, please feel free to move it!

I'm fortunate enough to be travelling extensively, and considering a camera upgrade.

My A720 IS has been a great little camera, but, it's giving me a little grief, and I'm ready for a DSLR. Because I'm travelling, size and weight are of prime concern.

Any recommendations for a quality, small, lightweight DSLR.

I spent YEARS dragging everything from 35mm SLR's, Rollieflex's, Hassleblads, and even 4 X 5 Speed Graphics. No more.....I want something tiny, and light.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

del Sol

Well, if you want some nice interchangeable lenses for your camera, it's not going to be small anymore. The best quality lenses get very expensive and very heavy and large.

But I can recommend a Canon S5 or the new one

This may be more what you want to get.

If you are set on the DSLR, consider this one:

My children and grandchildren are the reason, but it's the passion that drives me to get the perfect image of everything.

The first thing that comes to mind when looking for a DSLR that's tiny and light is the Micro Four Thirds system.

Yes, I know. It's not really a DSLR since it's mirror less and uses a EVF. But a slew of lenses came out during the PMA.

FLIPMarc,

Thank you so much.

All that, AND a 3:2 aspect ratio, (how I hate being forced to crop.)

This looks like exactly what I want.

Cheers, del Sol

The Olympus e 420 with a kit lens is pretty small has great image quality comparable to other APS-C sensor sized camera to ISO 400 IMO and even cheap to boot.

I currently use it as my point and shoot and find it works well for that purpuse.
