So i went skating at a local park today, it's been years lol, but i snapped a few off of my friend Nick trying Backside tails, and "suski" grinds as he would call them (tweaked 5-0's opposite of salads) I never shoot skating, so i tried to get low and wide but i dont know they dont look amazing too me. Tell me what i did wrong.

Items used:
30d
tamron 19-35 f4
Forgot my batteries for my flash so i didn't use it.

Keep them upright as they look much better without all of the rubbish that's in a lot of skate park shots.

I wasn't sure what is best for skateboarding, landscape or portrait... Any pointers how to make things pop?

Lighting will make the shots pop.

Shoot with the flash off camera and try to darken out that crappy background.

Bad habit because then you get stuck in shooting only vertical. Horizontal can lead to interesting composition if you think before you shoot.

Correct but so many Skatepark pictures have lots of junk in the background.

...which is why you don't shoot in a skatepark.
