Anyone have any input. I recently bought the 20D and am looking into getting a new all purpose lens. Ups? Downs? So far the only down I have seen is it's slowness and weight.

Yes it is slow, but I don't do much inside photography without a flash and with IS you can hand hold it at slower shutter speeds. The enlargements (13" X 19") that I've been printing are sharp. jb

The 17-85 is not a super-wide angle lens because it's an EF-S and it can never be used to capture 17mm view, only 28mm. 5D, Drebel, EOS-3, K1000
