now with all this talk about new styles and old styles, I wonder if these resellers still have some of the old stock

My understanding is that what's out there now has a "buckle" style attachment rather than a slip-through, as do most straps. The new model will go back to the slip-through, with added protection against loosening.

However, I have one of each, one buckle and one slip through, neither has even the potential to loosen.

well I think you guys just convinced me to get one for my Europe trip. Done a bunch of research and think I might just settle on this one. Really wish their was a Canadian retailer for them but thats ok :)

The pacsafe site has a list of Canadian stores that carry their products

I've had mine for a couple of weeks and love it. This is the only strap for me. Now its time to sell a couple used op/techs.

I'll restate my two cents. Usually a manufacturer doesn't make changes just for changes sake. If I had the original I'd contact them for the newest model. I have the buckle version and I'm wondering why they've redesigned things again. It makes me a bit nervous so I'll probably send it in for the newest version (I might just sew it for a permanent solution).

dan,

what do you mean by the buckle version. is it the same one as the picture they have on their website?

Instead of the slip through system, there's a buckle and tang.

That picture should show you a watch buckle and tang.

wow I don't think I'd want a buckle and tang system on a camera strap? to me thats for something you want to undo/do up over and over again ?

It's definitely quick if you want to remove and replace it. But, it's also their improved system, over their original slip through design.

And, you're in luck. As you know, tvphotog reports that they've redesigned the strap again and are going back to the slip through design.

mine has the buckle and tang. it's certainly seems to my engineer-trained mind to be sufficiently sturdy. don't forget that these types of products are just as frequently redesigned for cost reduction as for consumer benefit. the slip-through is probably just cheaper to produce.

Glad you guys are buying from that site because it's a great deal. I just the two that I ordered in the mail just in time to head out to Italy tomorrow ;)

Now the question is, are any of you using the supplied "O" key ring to attach the strap to your camera body or using the actual strap to loop it through your camera's metal bar thingy?

decisions decisions.

I'm curious to see how the ones who mentioned using this as an R-strap are doing it.
